TRAINING. LEADERSHIP. RESEARCH.

I’M AN EXPERIENCED CONSULTANT IN SEXUAL AND RELATIONSHIP VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND RESPONSE.

I believe that given the right skillset and tools, everyone can be a part of the mission to create a safer environment and end sexual and relationship violence. I tailor my workshops to meet people where they are at—from the ground level to the top floor of an organization.

ROBIN BERMAN, LSW

I am the owner of Robin Berman Training and Consulting, an LLC that provides training, education, and consulting on sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, consent, bystander intervention, healthy relationships and other related topics. I have worked with several non-profits, as well as several NFL teams, including The Chicago Bears and The Kansas City Chiefs. I have worked with The Bears for six seasons and The Chiefs for five seasons, leading trainings for the incoming rookie class on consent skill building in the real world, bystander intervention, and navigating boundaries.

I have worked in the field of sexual and relationship violence prevention, response, and education for over a decade, and in the Higher Education setting for ten years, starting at the University of Iowa, where I provided training to Athletics teams. I then became the primary Confidential Advocate and Prevention Educator at Loyola University Chicago, where I led prevention education efforts across all three campuses, and served as the primary liaison for Athletics, including providing additional and ongoing training to Loyola's Men's Basketball Team as they rose to national prominence during their first March Madness Final Four run.

I transitioned to the University of Chicago, where I served as the Associate Director in the Office for Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Support and a Deputy Title IX Coordinator in the Office of the Provost. I was responsible for providing trauma-informed response to reports of sexual misconduct and discrimination, Title IX and VAWA compliance obligations, and training/education initiatives. I currently serve as the Assistant Dean of Student Support in the Dean of Students office in the College at the University of Chicago, providing comprehensive support to students facing academic challenges and personal difficulties.

“It is so important to meet these young athletes where they are at. Transitioning to the world of professional sports is high stakes, and there are a lot of eyes on them. All athletes are placed in a rarefied position, and that is important for me to remember in my work. I approach working with all professional athletes with empathy, openness, and realistic scenarios that will be applicable to their lives.”

“Giving people the skills they need to be great leaders allows more people to imagine themselves in a leadership position and start taking the steps to get there.”

SERVICES

I provide training, education, and consulting on sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, consent, bystander intervention, healthy relationships, and other related topics.

I have consulted with non-profits such as the Third Coast International Audio Festival, whose staff I trained on best practices in managing response to sexual harassment and gender-based violence. I also provided ongoing assistance and support.

“I was working with my staff at an arts non-profit to plan our annual conference when we realized that we needed help.

How would we support attendees who might experience sexual harassment during our weekend-long event with nearly 800 people in a hotel setting. It wasn't common at previous gatherings, but we knew it had happened. And for the first time we wanted to let people know from the get-go that this was not acceptable behavior.

This was new territory for us, and it felt daunting. But our concerns were lifted once we spoke with Robin Berman, who helped us create a plan that included clear messaging to our attendees that we would not tolerate sexual harassment at the conference. The plan also included a secure way for people to come to us if they felt they'd been a victim, and strategies for what we should do in response. Robin helped set the right tone even before people arrived in Chicago for the event, and no one reported any harassment to us that weekend. But if there had been an incident. we would have been prepared, thanks to Robin's wise, informed and grounded advice.”
